Do the math in your head one number at a time while keeping track of your previous result. For example if you see number 10 and +2 after you should submit 12.
I built Numbers Chain because I wanted to test how well the brain can track a moving target. In this free brain game, you start with a base number and have to apply a string of math operations in sequence. The catch is that you have to remember the result of the last step to solve the next one, all while a timer is counting down.
I designed this to be a pure test of mental tracking and arithmetic speed. There’s no space to stop and write things down—you have to keep the "chain" alive in your head. If you lose the thread for a second, the whole sequence falls apart.
Don't Break the Chain
The challenge is staying accurate as the operations get more complex. It’s a mental workout that forces you to use sequential reasoning under pressure. It’s not just about knowing that 7 times 8 is 56; it’s about knowing that 56 is your new starting point for the next step of the puzzle.
I’ve found that building a long chain is one of the most satisfying ways to sharpen your focus. Since it runs right in your browser, it’s an easy way to challenge your working memory and see how many steps you can handle before your brain locks up.
"Numbers Chain is addictive! I love building longer chains and seeing how far I can go without mistakes."
- ChainMaster
"A perfect way to improve math speed and accuracy. Each chain gets more challenging as you go."
- QuickCalculator
Speed and Precision
I kept the interface minimal so your attention stays on the numbers. It rewards anyone who can maintain a steady rhythm while the operations scale in difficulty. Success depends entirely on your arithmetic agility and how well you can track multiple steps in a row.
I built this to be fast and lightweight. Whether you want to beat your longest chain or just need a quick cognitive drill, Numbers Chain is ready to play instantly in your browser whenever you want to test your mental speed.
